A friend left his iMac DV on overnight for a long download, and when he went to wake it in the morning (the morning he had a deadline to meet), it booted but without video. He was able to boot with video long enough to get file off the machine, but had to shut down to connect CDR to get the big files. No video ever came back, and the authorized repair told him bad ATI card (or chip...don't know iMacs), $500. He couldn't wait, bought new computer, gave me the iMac DV. I took it home, plugged it in, it booted with video. I left it on for days; turned it of and on; put it to sleep and woke it up...it always worked. The only odd thing was that the geometry was off...it wouldn't stay straight in the frame. Anyway, I gave it back, and he's hoping it will still boot if he needs it for a backup...but, does anyone have any ideas on what this was about? A Sleep bug? OS 9.2, G3/400 (no, not the battery...booted on dead battery, which I replaced) -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
