So i reverted back to an older SCSI hard drive i had that contained 9.1.
I'm getting further now but once the mac icon comes up and the HD starts
booting 9.1, it automatically reboots and continues doing so indefinitely.
I've zapped the PRAM about 5-6 times now but to no avail?

Any other suggestions?

Try rebooting from the X install disk. The X install disk allows you to run
the disk utility without doing an install, at least the 10.2 version does. That
could help.

I've seen this problem on my Beige MT and I can't remember exactly what I did
about it.

I made a 9.2 boodtable CD with system disk, startup disk and a bunch of boot
utilities on it. I've had so many problems booting between 9 and X that this
disk has bailed me out a few times.

What helps me now, booting berween os is do a COLD reboot between 9 and X,
unnecessary the other way around.
