Hi all, Got a beige G3 DT, initialized the hard drive and installed new OS 9.1. Downloaded from Apple a manual for the G3 and found there instructions about reinstall components.
> Reinstalling system software > > The system software components necessary to support your computers new options are > installed in the System Folder on your computers hard disk. > If you reinstall system software, you may have to reinstall some of these software > components > separately. They may not be included in the system software Installer. To reinstall > the software > components, follow these steps: > 1 Insert your Power Macintosh G3 CD. > 2 Open the folder titled Important Extra System Software. > 3 Drag the items from the folder onto the System Folder on your hard disk. > Note: If the folder is empty, then all of the necessary software components are > included in > the system software Installer. > 4 When you see a message asking if you want to put these items in the Extensions > folder, > click OK. > 5 Restart your computer. > I don't have a Power Macintosh G3 CD, has OS 9.1 all components needed? If not, where can I find or download the missing components. My 6500/250, 128mb Ram is faster then the G3 DT 266 mHz, 320 mb RAM, is it possible in my G3 is missing something ? Startup from the chime sound to the last item loaded, the control strip, is about 3 minutes, startup memory test is off. Also starting applications is slow. I zapped PRAM, no change. Get about two times a month error code 127, the only way to get it going again is to reinstall OS 9.1. Another question, I have an extension in my extension folder, looks like this: 666. If I click on it to get info, there is no info about it, also when I deactivate this extension, it will be back in the extension folder after the next startup, what could that be? Any ideas?
