There was a time (Mon, Jan 27, 2003 at 9:04 PM) when Albert W D'Amanda said this thing:

I went ahead and installed the OWC G4 500 processor upgrade, following the directions very carefully and setting the jumpers to 500 (3,5,6,8,9 on). When I hit the power key I got five (5) tones which means, as far as I can tell, that either the processor is not usable or a bad checksum for the ROM boot block (the latter for pre-1999 machines according to KnowledgeBase). I took it out, reseated the processor, and put it all back together again-- still five tones. I've submitted a support request to OWC but I was really hoping to get up and running tonight. Smack my head for not doing this during business hours when I could call them. In the meantime, does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed from here?
