This happened to my G3 266MT when I upgraded to OS 9, only the date was 1957. Nothing I tried would change this behavior, and it always happened after being turned off. About 3 weeks later, and the day before my new pram battery arrived, it suddenly stopped doing it and has kept the correct time ever since.
