If you click and hold in a web browser and some other programs you get a contextual menu, however, in the Finder and most applications you need to click while holding the control key. Web browsers were the first application to gain universal acceptance of the right mouse click and its still the most dominant area that its used, hence his example I expect.

Ok which OS and equipment are you using ie. ADB or USB? I've tried my
Apple
USB mouse puck on my B&W in Jag and OS 9 and holding down the mouse button
for even 10 seconds does nothing.
Could we be talking about the "spring-loaded folders" feature (in Finder
Preferences)?
