Hi I also have an ancient Lacie connected to my 333 G3 minitower. It works fine! (so long as you use the right blank disks)
Make sure you switch the drive on before the Mac. Also, try checking that the scsi ID on the back of the drive isn't conflicting with something else in the scsi bus.
