I'm going to assume you're using OS-X. My guess is that you have checked the box to share your internet connection.
Go to System Preferences/Sharing/Internet and turn Internet Sharing off.

However, when I try to set up the iBook to connect using built in ethernet, I get a message that my ISP my terminate me and I may be violating the agreement? I have never seen this before.
