It really shouldn't be - it's your right. I have no experience with
Earthlink, but some corporations do come off as assuming you're guilty of
<whatever> as long as there's the *possibility* of <whatever>. Witness the
media recent levies.
I'd just be up front and tell them what you're doing. In all likelihood
they *might* monitor your internet usage and, assuming there's no apparent
change, just let sleeping dogs lie.
