Remember the length of the pin which plugs into the "whisper" sound input card is a little longer. It has been mentioned that the last click position as you push the mic into the card is for amplification of the mic. I understand that this mic records stero sound.
The "Wings" A/V input with all the bells and whistles has its input for a mic like this as mono sound.
If this is wrong please anyone speak up. I don't know that much about the "PlainTalk" mic except what I've read here. I'm wanting to try one in my experiments, and hope Tim comes thru for me. I'll be able to post more data then about how it goes with voice recording.
The tip on the PlainTalk mic is for power to operate a preamp that is inside the microphone. Thus the PlainTalk mics output is line level. The PlainTalk mic is mono.
In a normal stereo cable the tip and ring carry the left and right (I don't know the order). The PlainTalk mic has a single longer ring that connects to both these positions and the tip which is further out carries power.
Some video cameras use this connector with all four positions wired for video and stereo sound.
