Gosh, I hope not, seeing how I did not use it when I got my sidecover off!

Yes, the clip is way too tight for its own good; I would squeeze two facing
prongs until they "grabbed", then two more, until they "grabbed", then the
last two; then, as one would with  lugnuts on a tire, go around again,
getting the prongs to loosen even more until the cover popped off. Slow and
painstaking, but apparently it saved me $96!
