MDD G4 and OS 9 Booting

I have one of the last mirrored drive door G4s, the single-CPU 1.25 GHz 
model with original AirPort and Mac OS 9 booting ability. When I 
install the Classic-tailored Mac OS 9 folder from the CDs included with 
the G4, I can boot in OS 9 with few problems, but the G4 still won't 
boot from my Mac OS 9.2.1 CD, or install directly from it. I would like 
to install a full, standard version of Mac OS 9 from this CD. Is this 
particular G4 model not supposed to start from Mac OS 9 CDs, or is 
something wrong?
