It should work with that board. My beige G3 desktop was set up from the factory with a CD-ROM drive as secondary master and a Zip drive as secondary slave, so all you should need to do is replace the cable. Keep in mind that the onboard IDE controller can only deliver 16.67 MB/s. Burning a CD at 48x will need about half of that all by itself (I don't know what speed your drive delivers, but I swapped out the CD-ROM drive with a Memorex combo drive that burns CD-Rs at 48x). You might want to consider adding a PCI IDE controller if you run into trouble burning at high speeds. > In my parts drawer I see that I have one ribbon cable that fits and one > with a blanked out hole that doesn't fit the CD drive. I think the faster specs call for a missing pin on the connector so that an unshrouded connector on the motherboard can be keyed to connect only one way. Your cable probably has a plastic plug in one of the holes that can be carefully pried out with a razor blade. _/_ / v \ Scott Alfter (IIGS( http://alfter.us/ Top-posting! \_^_/ rm -rf /bin/laden >What's the most annoying thing on Usenet? -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
