The UATA/66 and faster cables have 80 wires, but the connectors have only 39 pins. The 40th pin is a "key", but it is not used otherwise. You can delete that same pin on a 40 wire cable, and the bus will act as an UATA/33 or EIDE (16.67 MB/sec) bus, whichever (host or drive) is the slowest. -- G-List is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
