How are you doing these backups? Are you manually copying the files onto the Iomega drive (is this a Zip drive?) or are you using some kind of 3rd party utility like the Iomega sync tool? It sounds like the backup disk is just syncing with the real Quicken data, so the moment you change the real data the changes are being copied to the backup.
