My Beige G3 replaced my Umax S900. I had nabbed one of the XLR8 carrier cards and put an OWC G4/533 on it. I even had the system board running at a stable 66MHz. You'd figure that a Beige G3 wouldn't be much different.
I was shocked to see how much faster the G4 chip was when I had it installed into the Beige. I could do a 52X CD burn while listening to iTunes and loading a few pages in Mozilla! My Umax was tied up anytime I did a CD burn over 4x. I attribute it to the faster RAM and better board design. I would double check that second card I pointed out, I'm not sure, but I think it supports LVD drives. BTW, isn't LVD backwards compatible, it just has to slow down when on an Ultra SCSI (?, too many kinds) bus? -Rob > I got great deal on a brand new Daystar xlr8 G4. > Of course I bought it with the Mach Carrier because it originally was > going to go in my 9500.
