I have a Beige G3 Desktop (my newest machine!), just
installed Jaguar, and I've been trying to figure out
whether it can run OS X Panther. So far, after
looking through the Apple site, my main question has
to do with the statement in the hardware requirements
that it needs built-in USB. The G3 beige has a USB
card. Does this knock it out of consideration for
running Panther? Or is there a workaround that doesn't
create more problems?

Also, I'm thinking of changing out the CPU for an
aftermarket 1GHz job when I can afford it, and after I
max out the RAM to 768 MB. Any dire warnings? Any OS
incompatibilities noticed, in Jaguar or Panther?

Third item is that when running Classic apps, when
Jaguar is windowing or booting to 9.2.2, saving in the
app almost invariably crashes the app, with no other
noticeable effects. Solutions anyone? (I'm new to
the list, so please be patient if you've already
covered this stuff!)
