Someone posted a question very similar to this on the G-books list last week, and someone posted a link to a program that's supposed to help with this. Unfortunately the archives with the answer aren't posted yet. Anyone else remember the name of the program?
MacaRa Modem Magic. It's shareware but if you are using dial up it is a great tool.
Modem Magic is cr*p, and a rip-off pure and simple. All it does is alter the modem script to *report* that you're connecting faster.
People claim that it tells them they're connected at 57,600 bps. This is completely false; FCC regs prohibit any modem connection faster than 53K.
