Modem Magic is cr*p, and a rip-off pure and simple. All it does is alter the modem script to *report* that you're connecting faster.

Never touched that app, so no comment.
People claim that it tells them they're connected at 57,600 bps. This is completely false; FCC regs prohibit any modem connection faster than 53K.

Specifically the FCC had a limit on the output power allowed over a phone line, this effectively capped x2 and v.90 to 53k, KFlex could hit 56k without breaking the limit. Last I knew the limit was lifted to allow v.90 to hit a full 56k if the lines permit.
