Not sure if I'm reading you right, but do you have the OS X software disk? You are better off using Disk Utility booted off the disk.....

Hello,
Which OS X software disk should be used? I wanted to try that and I have three disks,10.0.3, 10.1 and 10.2. All three give me a note-"That application or control panel is not supported by Classic". I don't care about Classic at this point. Are you saying I have to boot the computer from the OS 10.03 to make the utility work?
Thanks

Wilton

If you are using 10.2, then put the 1st 10.2 CD in, reboot while holding down the 'c' key, and when it boots into the disk you go up under 'Installer,' I believe, and scroll down to 'Disk Utility.'
