FACT: There are currently no viruses that are affecting the Mac. You are caught up in the national paranoia regarding attacks that effect the PC world, not Mac. You must remember that the companies that write this software are in business to make money and if they can make money off of your fear, it doesn't bother them that they are taking your money for a service that you don't need.
On the other hand, there is no such thing as being 'too cautious'. So, continue using your anti-virus software of choice....maybe one day you'll actually need it.
It's a sad commentary on todays society that we let fear control our lives in such insidious ways....I could site a recent example but then most of you know to what I'm referring.

If there are no viruses for Macs, what is it that I am downloading from Symantec's web site every month when they issue new Virus Descriptions? Aside - I get plenty of "alerts" from my Symantec AntiVirus when downloading email - but always for Windows viruses which can do no harm to my Mac.
