Evening All,

I'm currently looking at a Beige G3 tower because I "need" another box...

I'm wondering:

Is the inability to support slave drives the only drawback to revision 1
motherboards? This seems to be the most widely reported drawback to the
rev. 1s, but I'd be grateful for information on any other "surprises" I
should be aware of before I take the plunge here.

There are problems with some USB cards as well, IIRC.

When I see this:

When buying a G4 upgrade for the beige G3, make sure it is compatible with
this model's 66 MHz bus. Pulled G4s from Apple's "Yikes!" G4 and some OEM G4s
are specifically designed for a 100 MHz bus and will not work properly in the
beige G3.

This is probably not true. Their 'rated speed' may be predicated on a 100 MHz bus, but a Zif is a Zif is a Zif, afaik.
