XServe is designed to be run headless. It comes set up for remote management through ServerAdmin, WorkGroup Manager and Apple Remote Desktop. I however have found ways to break these. :) IIRC you can get them shipped with a video card.


BTW I've discovered a back up plan. You put the XServe in Firewire Target Disk mode (by pushing a button on the front panel in a certain sequence) and boot from it on another computer (laptop is handy).
