For those that don't watch the swap list, I've decided my Frankenmac, while doing a good job convincing me of the merits of OS X, is not strong enough for what I'm trying to do with it. I keep thinking moving up to a dual G5 is the best way to spend my money at this point, but the sticker shock and knowledge of how much I've already got into this box has me realing.

Has anyone had a chance to play with the new 1.7ghz upgrades from either Sonnet or GigaDesigns? I'm particularly interested in Giga's dual unit. How close to striking distance of a G5 DP box would I be if I stuffed one of those in, along with a Radeon 9800? I'm looking at approx $1100 to upgrade my box, vs $2500+ to get into a G5 2.0ghz DP system. I'd love to think I could sell my box to help reduce the cost of the G5, but I dunno how many people are intrested in a G4 in a beige box. : )

What I need is for GigaDesigns and Apple to lend me hardware so I can do a faceoff...
