Hardware:
Biege G3 upgraded to 400 mc G4
IDE master(ATA) - 80 G hard disk. Partitioned (using OSX) (1) 7.9G, OSX 10.2.8 (2) 35+/ G, OS 9.1 (3) 35 +/- G, Scratch
IDE slave CDROM
OSX loaded, updated to 10.2.8 operated well (? considering the problems).
LOST booting to OSX.
Advised by othet "G-list" member to use "System Disk" (from Apple) to get back to OSX. This worked a few times.
Reinstalled OSX to regain access to OSX --- Lost boot access again
Zap pram to get machine to boot (9.1)
(Oh yeah, there isn't any other way I know of to gain access to OSX, but to boot into it.)
Reinstalled OSX again (getting quite old) Lost Boot access again
I'm presently operating OS9.1 and need advice as to how to regain my OSX BOOT access.
System Disk, will put the machine into a state where booting after reset (three finger salute) ,
'option' gets 9.1, just waiting gets nothing. Maybe I'm too impatient, but I figure 30 seconda after complete silence (no disk activity) means there isn't going to be anything else happenning.
System Disk indicates that the three partitions are:
ATA bus 0,0,6 (OSX 10.2.8)
0,0,7 (OS9.1)
0,0,8 (scratch)When OSX is selected, it indicates 0,0,5 as target
I have tried manually setting the target to "6" (Why this would be correct I haven't a clue)
"0" 1st partition?
"1" maybe 1st partition IF "0" is for system info.
No joy for any of these trials.
These tests have been run both with and without also selecting OSX with 'Startup Disk"
I've basicly run out of things to try. HELP Please!!!!!
