Hi Mark,
I did that and I got a folder with other folders but nothing to install.
I have tried that several times with no luck, maybe I am missing
somnething. Why do some downloads seem install easily while others do
nothing.

I just went over the dark side (OS 9.22) and also logged on to mozilla.org site to download and install it there. Worked just fine for me. The file downloaded, was uncompressed and automatically installed after asking me where I wanted to put it. I ended up with a mozilla full-install folder on the desktop and finally a mozilla alias. Double-clicking on the alias opened up mozilla and off we went. It is much better than IE I think. Of course after using OSX I rarely run this system in 9.22 anymore. Guess if you have to it's better to have the best apps there.
