Reason for this train of thought is the absolute hell I have been going
through trying to install OSX on this damned Tower!!

What level of OSX have you been trying?
I've had no trouble installing 10.2 , and then doing the 'Combined update' to 10.2.6, and then doing the 10.2.8 combined update to get to --> 10.2.8 <--- (Someone on one of the lists mentioned problems going straight to the 10.2.8 update [even though it's SUPPOSED to work that way].)
My only problem has been that the Beige died, and I haven't been able to recover it so far.
The 10.2 is a supported thing on the Beige MT, so you SHOULDN't have any problems. Now when you try going to 10.3 Your on your own!!!
