I am in the same frame of mind as you, but on a much tighter budget.  But 
personally I would always use a SCSI drive.  Im building a computer now with an 
Ultra 160 SCSI card and a 10k rpm drive, ATI 9200 (not the best but cheap at 
$130), going to be either a 450 or 466MHz G4 for now, minimum of 640MB RAM, 
multiple harddrives, and a DVD/CDRW drive.  May I also suggest watercooling 
with 
some overclocking?
