As a new convert, I must say, I wish I had done it sooner. OS X isn't nearly as scary as I thought it would be. I had a G3 iMac Indigo that I took to OS 9.2.2 and left it there for the last 3 years or so. I could have run OS X on it but was afraid to move up and have a problem with the sorftware, etc. I got my new iMac and love it!
I am certainly not a "power user" but I buy/sell on ebay, read email and yahoo groups, play a few games and generally have fun. It was very easy to change and figure it out...glad you have a few extra you can share...hopefully people will take you up on it and MOVE ON UP!

Have no regrets over your timing. As a non-power user, your timing was perfect. You avoided many of the teething problems in the early versions of OS X.
I installed Panther on my dual boot G4 QuickSilver 733 about five months ago. Things went much easier than I expected. Classic comes up with every start-up. My wife still uses some of her applications in Classic mode. She has iPhoto and Photoshop Elements 3.0 in OS X. We use Safari and Mail and TextEdit. Everything works like a charm!
