Thanks Eagle.

Yes, I zapped the PRAM, let it bong six times. Nothing changed. Still won't
boot into X, instead gives me the green "You must restart your Mac" screen.

Tried the Verbose mode twice. First time, about three screenfuls of stuff
scrolled by, but before I could read anything, it all vanished and snapped
into that Darwin terminal mode, or whatever it is, waiting for keyboard
commands or something.

Second try at Verbose mode: the screenfuls of text scrolled by again, but
before I could read any of it, it vanished and turned into a blank blue
screen with the cursor sitting in the middle of it. Every half minute or so
the cursor would change into a spinning beachball, and the time of day
would appear in black at the upper right corner of the screen, then fade
away. After doing that a couple of times, the cursor just sat there in the
middle of the blue screen and nothing else happens.

After each try, I have to force a restart, and drop back to OS-9 here to
hope you or anyone else has any other ideas.

Thanks for trying to help. Seems like nothing works, but I'll keep trying
things.
