Also, many of the new standalone DVD recorders will burn VCDs and SVCDs. But they don't interface digitally with computers or DVD players, so your transfer would have to be analog (RCA or Svideo cables.) Still, it's probably ok given the limits of VCD.
Wouldn't Prosumer DVD recorders with Firewire input interface digitally with computers?
Pioneer PRV-9200 has Firewire, composite, component, but no VHS according to a recent release in EventDV. The new DVD decks with hard drives might be usable as digital data capture devices, but I don't know anyone who has one.
