John & Len thanks for the synchrotech lead. These seem to offer the best solution. Many options there.
Since I'm just now stepping up a notch, I presuming that the G3 USB ports are 2.0 compatible, so all the Synchrotech options would work?

What I have is a Travelstar 8E external HD with a PCMCIA dongle
Do you think I'm correct in assuming that the G3 with one of the synchrotech USB adapters that accept FlashCards and Type II PC cards would recognize my Travelstar in all the ways my PB3400 and Wallstreet do?
