And here's yet-another article, with a shoe drop, maybe!
Dell 'happy' to ship Mac OS X-based PCs

About midway thru the article it says:
... The only 'benefit' will be that if you don't like Mac OS X,
you'll be able to wipe it and install Windows on your Mac. Apple has
said it won't stop users doing that, though it will prevent PC owners
installing Mac OS X on their machines.
huh? Reread that!
The Mactel hardware will be so compatible with regular PC hardware *at
the motherboard level* that Windows will boot on it???? That
procludes a number of "lock down" things Apple could do to OS X to
stop people from booting it on a spec PC. woohoo! A boon for the
hacking community!

Sorry Dan, you just don't understand "Hardware".
All it takes is a single 'bit' in the memory map being available
(ignored by 'Windows') and you can turn on/off anything you want in the
way of disable/enable features. The extra hardware (to run those
'features') sitting there won't bother 'Windows' one bit, but it's easy
to make it something that OSX would die without.
