I need more hard drive space for my blue & white G3. Since it is a revision 1 G3, I can't just plop another IDE drive in there. The xlr8yourmac site has lots of information and advice--so much, really, that it's overwhelming--and they do have instructions for adding a slave IDE drive, but they strongly suggest that to do so, an IDE PCI card needs to be installed. So if I'm
going to have to add a card, I may as well add a SCSI card, right?

No. ATA drives are just as fast (you're bound by the 66Mhz bus speed in the B&W anyway) and vastly cheaper and far less fiddly.

get a controller from someplace like Other World Computing <http:// eshop.macsales.com/item/SIIG/SCMP4A12/> and another big HDD and you're good to go.

Then get that drive on sale at Frys, and you've got a setup for < $200 that you would have to pay well near $1000 or more for in SCSI.
