Curiously, then, how would someone whose most important data is IN
classic apps, be able to get at their old data and use it again if they
got one of these Intel Macs?

Upgrade to the OS X version of the classic application.

Or extract the old data into a form usable in some other OS X-native application.

Or keep your old Mac.

Or print out your old data, then manually type it into some other OS X-native application.

Or keep your old Mac.

Or buy a PC and forget your old data -- you'll be spending too much time being entranced by the blue screen of death, and updating Norton Antivirus.

Or keep your old Mac.
