I only today discovered this thread so I traced it back and read it all.

Only this week I received and bit on a Paypal phishing/scam email.
I became suspicious immediately, broke the link then went to Paypal via typing in the address.
I followed their instructions to change my password etc.

As another Tom did, I in the beginning set up a separate checking account to link my Paypal account to. It never has much $$ in it. I usually transfer or deposit just what I need to make the purchase.

I mentioned this idea of a separate account to a online retailer I made several purchases from and they liked the idea so well that they set up the same for them selfs.

I've never been ripped off in this fashion but I recognize the possibility and take what precautions I can.

Regards all,

Tom
