For the record: XPost Facto the wonderful app for running OSX on older Macs not supported by Apple. It started out by allowing the install and running of OSX on mostly the PCI Power Macs. Power Macs 7500 -9600 and clones. It has added more support for machines like Power books ,Beige G3 for Panther & Tiger and early iMacs as Apple drops support XPFactor adds it ;-) XPFacto 4.0 has added Firewire drive booting for machines that don't support it. Works great with my DVD in a firewire box on my old Umax clone running OSX ! It also supports firewire booting with the B &W machine. I think the Sawtooth and newer have firewire booting already. For the record: this firewire 'booting' isn't really booting from firewire. What the program does is put a some boot code onto the hard drive that redirects the rest of the startup process to a firewire- connected volume.

While this does allow you to run OS X from a firewire drive it's not truly *booting* from a firewire drive. If your main drive gets hosed (the reason most folks would boot from a FW drive) this will not work.
