With all of this talk about the open wireless, I took the plunge today. I had my wireless network setup with no password but it was set to be invisible. I thought that would do it. Probably not a good idea though. I have about 4 wireless networks that appear on my Airport and I can access them all. They have no security set at all. So, I set up WEP with 128 bit encryption and started using OS 10 Server 10.4.3. I have all internet coming into one port and going out by another. Firewall is running and a bunch of other do-dad's. I feel my network is now safe. The server is running on a G3 400 Blue and White (quite well, I might add). Oh, one more question (I haven't had time to read up on this yet, can I get my mail delivered to this same OS X server? and then distributed to the various Mac on the home network? Just curious....the present system seems to work fine.

Interesting but as you say, "irrelevant" to my situation! This thread just solidifies my reason for moving to small town USA and out of the big city where paranoid thinking is the norm, with some justification to be sure.

It is a jungle out there, but not up here!

Ed Gein lived in small town Wisconsin.

You know, the serial killer who was the inspiration for "Pycho"...and "Texas Chainsaw Massacre"...and "Silence of the Lambs"...
