Hi,
I am actually curious how can he fit OSX in 8GB, once you have an
iTunes library, iPhoto library, a few apps that like to be on the same
volume, I wonder ... Not to mention that OSX uses a lot of disk space
for journaling and if it doesn't find it, tends to go a bit iffy ...
I keep an 80GB partition on a 120GB drive for OSX, plus I have a 40GB
drive also on the ATA bus and two large drives connected to a SATA card
(120GB and 200GB) for photo retouching.
And with a Digital SLR and shooting RAW (a lot of RAW, I work as a tour
guide in an Australian National Park) drive space shrinks by the day
even archiving a lot of photos in DVD-Rs.
The system is a Quicksilver 800 with 768MB of RAM, but awaiting for an
MDD 1GHz.
Cheers
Andrea

Is it necessary to keep OSX on the first 8 gig in an iMac? I thought
that was an issue only with the Beige G3s? I upgraded an iMac DV 400
MHz with 160 gig HD, a small partiton for an OS9 emergency boot
volume, and the rest for OSX.3. Works like a charm!
Or maybe your iMac is too old for this?
I put a 120 GB Maxtor HD in the iMac which I set up with
3 partitions, 7.9 GB for OSX, 30 GB for OS9 and the rest
for storage.
