I would also be interested in upgrading my B&W G3 which is running Tiger - I got the G3 for $100 and have since added 512MB of OWC RAM, a Pioneer DVD-burner and another HDD

I am awaiting the arrival of a SATA card and 250 GB SATA HDD

I use the B&W for doing Photoshop batch processes on large numbers of files so that my main machine (1.33 G4 PowerBook) does not get bogged down doing these tasks

Would a G4 upgrade processor significantly speed up my B&W? Or is the new HDD (and maybe some more RAM) the better option?

Thanks

Hi Lister's:

Haven't been on the list in quite a while but I'm about to put my B&W
back into production
It's currently running a 400MHz chip @ 450MHz no problem. I've even
had it up to 500 at
one time but 450's dead stable so...

Anyway I'm planning on either a G3 or G4 Upgrade for this thing and I
wanted to get people's
experience with the Sonnet g4 Zif 1000MHz upgrade.-Does it operate
at the 100MHz Bus speed
of the B&W
Also there is a MachSpeed G4 Zif 600 which does run at 100MHz bus
speed. Anyone using this?
Is there a 800MHz G3 upgrade somewhere out there?
I'm not stuck on a G4 so a comparably fast G3 would be fine 600MHz+ ?

Now before anyone goes looking for their soapbox please don't explain
to me why I don't want to do
this or why I should buy a G4 of some flavour. Adapting what I have is
a real pleasure for me and
slows down the planets consumption juggernaut.

Thank you one and all,
Gareth
