Airport Card is $79. Installs in seconds. Airport Express is
available at a wide range of prices over various places on the net.
I prefer to buy from Apple, but that's just me. My house is
completely wireless with an Airport Extreme base station connected to
my cable modem at the front of the house with an omni-directional
antenna and then I use 2 Airport Express units at the back corners to
relay and boost the signal. I get a strong signal all the way out on
my back patio as I do sitting right next to my base station. Running
WEP with 128 bit encryption, my network is secure. Setup is very
simple...that is, of course, the Apple way. As for other wireless
routers, I can't say. I know people use Linksys and Netgear,
etc.... They are cheaper but as to compatibility and ease of setup
that's a whole different issue. My philosophy is that since I'm
using a Macintosh manufactured by Apple, it just makes sense to use
Networking hardware made by Apple also. So far, it has yet to let me
down and I've been using and expanding on it now for the past 4 years.
Tim, I hope this helps. Oh, I am running 5 Macs on this wireless
network as well as a network printer and a PC laptop. Also 2 other
printers are connected to the Airport Express stations. Everybody
can print to every printer, everybody can file share.

I need some opinions.
I'm moving to a place with a wireless router. I've always been
hard core cable connected up until now. I'm getting a little
forced to move ahead.... :))
What card do I need for my G5? What is the fastest for the money?
Does it matter what kind of router they have? What do I have to do
to set it up once there?
Help and thanks!
