For business graphics, a low end color laser ($300) will be
better than=20=
a low end inkjet ($100).
Why would you compare these? The natural practical thing is to
compare things of similar price?
Because the initial cost is only part of TCO. That $300 laser is,
in the end, cheaper to own and operate than the $100 inkjet.
I mean what would you consider the better deal: a $500 car that ran
on $200/gal fuel and got 5 MPG, or a $15000 car that ran on $2/gal
fuel and got 25MPG?
Well, if you only drive a couple of miles a day and trade cars every
three years........ :-)
Seriously, we own a b&w laser for all of our everyday stuff and an
inkjet simply for photo-grade prints. When we need to replace the
laser, it will be with a color laser and the inkjet still reserved
for printing photos. Using inkjet for general print is only cost
effective if your printing is very limited.
