I think this is of interest to many folks on the list.

You have no rights to using Student/Teacher versions unless you are a student or teacher.

Check the requirements for Student/teacher packages. Many are pretty liberal. If you have a student in the house, you qualify for many, even if the student is not the one using the package mostly. MS Office is one, here are the eligibility requirements.

Eligibility
To license Office 2004 for Mac Student and Teacher Edition, you must be a Qualified Educational User or the parent or guardian of a Qualified Educational User who is a minor. Qualified Educational Users include full- or part-time students, home schooled students, and full- or part-time faculty or staff of an accredited educational institution.

This would seem to include parents of a child in Kindergarden, an adult taking a night class in Basket Weaving at the local community college, or a janitor (forgive me--Facilities Maintenance Engineer) at a Parochial school.

So check the requirements and you may qualify.
