Have you tried "Change Password for Keychain davidelmo" from the
Keychain Access edit menu? (or whatever your username is)

Yes, I did look at this before but was put off by the fact that to
change the password I had to enter the old one. When I entered the
old one (ie. just null, <enter>, a notice came up saying this was
wrong password!
But, just now on reading your post, I took another look and
_persisted_ against the neurotic machine. I thought, hey, this
machine has a trigger-happy-notice-sticking-up-dept, but the dept
that is now in charge of this dialog might be quite happy with my
null password (for that is what it was!). And indeed, it let me
enter a new one! Now - my private little test - I can click the lock
closed and open it only with my real non null (same as admin
password). Which is what I wanted! Now keychain access does _not_
respond to just <enter> at all. Seems solved now, thanks for
focusing on this, causing me to refocus on it and persist...
I feel like lost cattle needing shoving here and there...
