You can boot the PC with a Windows Install CD (make sure the CD is  
selected as the 1st boot device in the BIOS), and then follow the  
install instructions and reformat the HD. For XP you'll be pressed  
toward NTFS, but you can use FAT32 also. I'd to a "FULL" format rather  
than a "QUICK" format since this was an Apple HD.

If you can't get the Mac drive to recognize at all, use your Firewire  
method, it can't take that long.
