The good news is that you do not need to hold the power button for the three chimes. You press it once, let go and then wait through three chimes. Should be about 30 seconds of holding command option p-r. The other contortionist option is to move your keyboard next to your Mac and use, for example, your thumb to hold the p and your pinky for the power button.
