Arctic Silver is good, but it is conductive. You should apply it according to instructions, which specify that the AS substance should be squeezed onto an intermediate surface which is smooth and impermeable, and from that a very small amount should be applied to the heat conducting surface of the chip. Silicone is a little more forgiving as it is not conductive of electricity. In their initial installation, Apple used a heat conductive, but electrically nonconductive film. These are occasionally available from specialty suppliers. About $1 apiece, as I recall. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
