Seriously, go google "Replacing CPU heatsinks" you'll find a lot of info, 99% about PCs but in this instance, there's no difference between the Mac and the PC. Remove the heatsink. Clean the old compound off the CPU, and the correspondign contact area of the heatsink; you may need to use a razor blade to scrape it off, you may need to use isopropyl on a Q-tip. place a tiny amount of Arctic Silver in the center of the cpu or the heatsink contact area. By timy I mean a blob a < 5 mm in diameter. Attach heatsink, making sure all four corners are properly secured to provide even pressure across the CPU. -- Bruce Johnson University of Arizona College of Pharmacy Information Technology Group Institutions do not have opinions, merely customs --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed Low End Mac's G3-5 List, a group for those using G3, G4, and G5 desktop Macs - with a particular focus on Power Macs.
