View from the UK, FWIW. Given a choice, I'll stick with the email format. I do visit certain forums, and participate therein; but the format of; the people belonging to; and the education received from this list greatly exceeds the value of all the forums put together.

Took me a while to get used to the lists, they're much better than those non responsive forum web sites, here you can get answers from knowledgeable folks fast and not have to wait for days till someone reads the forum. The lists are truly interactive.
