only has USB I as opposed to USB II on the PowerBook.
Ok. So something is foo on the PowerBook. Other USB devices work
ok? Other USB mountable devices work ok? Finder is set to display
such volumes on your desktop?
Launch Console.app and set it to view the system log. Then plug in
the modem... and see what error messages get thrown.
